📌 Top Story
Durham's first FRINGE Festival opens Friday and runs 10 days, with 50 Durham artists in 25 venues from downtown to Golden Belt — about half of the shows ticketed, at $10 to $25. The Carolina Theatre is throwing it for its 100th birthday, and acts were picked partly for how far they strayed from their usual work. Expect dancers in bars, musicians in bookstores, and a potter-and-poets show where you decide whether to keep a clay piece or smash it to read the poem hidden inside.

🏡 Triangle Pulse
About ten miles from Siler City, in western Chatham County, a foot-wide bare path forms a perfect circle 40 feet across. Legend says the devil paces it on his nightly walks. When the state Department of Agriculture tested the soil, it found the path sterile from extremely high salt, with natural salt licks nearby. (NCpedia)
Before You Go
Durham's Fluid Community Garage is an auto shop built on the idea that there are no stupid questions about your car. Supporters gave $22,166 on GoFundMe before it opened in May, and 60 to 70 people showed up to clean up a lot that had looked like a junkyard.
🧠 Brain break: today's Daily Fury is live. Five questions, the same five for everyone. Defend the Triangle's honor.
