First Up

Professional women's softball showed up in Durham this summer, and the receipts are in. The Carolina Blaze played 13 home games at Duke's Smith Family Stadium, pulled visitors from 20 states, and filled 8,976 hotel stays — 23,077 tickets in all. The Durham Sports Commission puts the economic impact at $5.95 million, and the first game sold out back on June 9. (CBS 17)
